1943 - 2021

Charles "Chuck" E. Wettle, age 77, of Archbold, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born in Toledo on May 16, 1943 to Roberta (Butler) and Charles Wettle, Sr. Charles grew up on Peck Street and graduated from Macomber High School, Class of 1961.

His parents founded Wettle Canvas Awnings Company and after operating it for many years they allowed Charles to purchase the company operating it until his retirement in 2002. Upon retirement Charles turned the company over to his son Brent and his wife Heather and they continue to keep the longtime family business going strong. Charles also stayed busy managing the Superwash in Archbold for many years.

Charles had a passion for old cars restoring them and showing them off at area car shows. He considered himself an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and snowmobiling. Charles was also an avid fan of the Toledo Walleye. In his younger years he was known for his success in drag racing. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be remembered dearly for his infectious laugh and his love to make people smile.

In addition to his parents, Charles was also preceded in death by his twin brothers, Robert and Arthur and infant great-grandson, Luke.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Lee Wettle; children, Julie (Larry) Guyette, Kami (Doug) Rowe, Brent (Heather) Wettle, Sheila (Ted Swiczkowski) Wettle and Lonnie (Theresa) Mason; grandchildren, Jake, Tristan, Rachel, Molly, Andrew (Patty), Mickenzie, Olivia, Sophia, Kim, Cole (Taylor), Ashtyn, Amber, Lauren, Marah, Christopher and Brittany; great grandchildren, Brayden, Alexis, Aiden, Adam, Abby, Isaiah, Savannah, Ryan, Jr., Malachi, Eizen and Kairi; Doug Stiriz who Chuck considered a son. Also surviving is his sister, Mary (Charles) Jones; nephew & nieces, Gregg (Martha), Sheli, Kery (Tim), Stephanie (Archie); great niece & nephews, Michael, Brenden, Taegan and Carstyn; sister-in-law, Lynnette; nephew & nieces, Jessica (Bobby) Thompson, Corey (Nicole) and Ashley (Nicholas) Jones; great nieces and nephew, Liliana and SadaBella, Harper and Remi and cousin, Norma Borowski and family.

Friends and Community are invited to join the Wettle Family in celebrating Chuck's life on Monday, March 1, 2021 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Newcomer, Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300).
