Edward T. “Ed” O’Mara, age 64, of Ottawa Lake, MI, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at home. He was born on October 17, 1955 to Daniel and Patricia (Hines) O’Mara in Detroit, Michigan, being 1 of 14 children. Ed graduated from Deckerville High School in 1973. He then obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering from Michigan Tech; also obtaining his professional engineering license in the State of Michigan. Ed worked his entire career in the thermodynamics industry and was well respected. There wasn’t an issue he couldn’t fix. Ed was also wonderful with children, known to many as the baby whisperer. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with them whenever he could. Ed’s smile, spirit and caring nature will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by “The Aunts”, Patty, Kay and Vert O’Mara; sister, Eileen Portice; sister-in-law, Faith O’Mara; and brother-in-law, Bradley Cundall. Ed is survived by his loving children, Kristin (Anthony) Gardner and Pat (Katie) O’Mara; grandchildren, Lance, Taylor, Harper, Ellie, and Rory; step-grandson, Austin; former spouse and friend, Mary Lou O’Mara; siblings, Kathleen Hulett, Daniel (Lee Ann) O’Mara, Sheila (Joe) McEachin, Michael O’Mara, Patricia (Michael) Lydon, Hugh (Donna) O’Mara, Maureen Cundall, John (Margo) O’Mara, Paul (Kathy) O’Mara, Peter (Tina) O’Mara, Marty (Cheryl) O’Mara, and Virginia (Shawn) Kursinsky; brother-in-law, Terry Portice; and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
