In Loving Memory of

Lanty E. “Sauce” Nottingham

1938 - 2020

Lanty Earl Nottingham, 82, of Temperance, Michigan, was reunited with his beautiful bride on Sunday, March 8th, 2020 after a long battle of declining health associated with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He passed peacefully in his sleep at Ebeid Hospice Residence with his daughters by his side. He was born on February 27, 1938 to the late Holly Dae Nottingham and Mamie M. Hall Nottingham Gravier in Duck, WV.

Lanty had many names, including son, brother, uncle, dad, papa, grandpa, but was very fondly known as Sauce, his nickname from birth. Regardless of what you called him; you could always call him a friend. He truly could make a friend anywhere with his love for striking up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, anytime. He never ran out of things to talk about and had so many wild stories ranging from what it was like being 1 of 9 boys to his 28-year career driving truck for Roadway from which he retired in 1998. He had the best eye-crinkled smile and boisterous laugh that was immediately contagious and would light up every room. He always had a joke up his sleeve, which were usually hilariously inappropriate. Lanty had a fond love for deer hunting & guns, vacation traveling, and cars.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Barbara R. Nottingham, daughter; Jerrie Lynn Wallace, son; Robert Wayne Nottingham, and 7 brothers; Carl, Clarence, Darrius, Holly Jr., Gale, Delmas and Darrell
He is survived by his daughters Lisa Cousino (Tommy) and Trish Carter (Bill), both of Temperance, MI; his brother, Mike Nottingham of Frametown, WV; 2 half-sisters, Susan Botkins (Steve) of Bryan, OH, and Jeanne Dawson (Teddy) of Duck, WV; half-brother, Gary Nottingham (Alice) of Duck, WV; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

The world is quiet without his voice and laugh. He is immensely loved and will forever be deeply missed.

WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME
When tomorrow starts without me
And I’m not here to see
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me

I wish you wouldn’t cry
The way you did today
While thinking of the many things
We did not get to say

I know how much you love me
As much as I love you
Each time that you think of me
I know you will miss me too

When tomorrow starts without me
Please try to understand
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand

The angel said my place was ready
In heaven far above
And that I would have to leave behind
All those I dearly love

But when I walked through Heaven’s Gates
I felt so much at home
When God looked down and smiled at me
From his golden throne

He said this is eternity
And all I promised you
Today for life on earth is done
But here it starts a new

I promise no tomorrow
For today will always last
And since each day’s the exact same way
There is no longing for the past

So when tomorrow starts without me
Do not think we’re apart
For every time you think of me
Remember I’m right here in your heart
