In Memory Of
Sharon K. Monaghan
1942 - 2019

Sharon K. Monaghan, 76, of Sylvania Township, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on January 18, 2019.

Her beautiful heart and soul touched so many throughout her years. As a sailors wife, a stay at home mom, she loved to sew and roller skate. In 1971, Toledo Skateland / Ohio Skate opened and Mom and dad dedicated their life to skating. During the years mom and dad "adopted" so many kids - she was a mom to many! Mom loved to help others which led her to a career as a physical therapy aid. Upon retirement and her love for kids, she began working for Sylvania Schools part-time until she became ill.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Candice Monaghan and son, Johnny Monaghan; sisters, Ruthann Doyle and Karen Kiser; grandchildren, Joshua, Tyler, John Paul, Nicholas, Chad, Ryan, Hannah, Lucas and Alex; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Brantlee, Colton, Lillie and the future Monaghan twins; dear close family friend, Bruce Carper and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Fred and Betty Surprise, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce (Keith) Paquin-Hackworth and the father of her children, John L. Monaghan.

The family will receive guests on Friday, January 25, 2018 from 2-6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with her Memorial Service starting at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Memorial Contributions may be made to an organization that Sharon was proud to support, the Autism Society of N.W.O., in honor of her great-grandson, Brantlee. Autism Society of N.W.O., 6629 Central Ave., Suite #1, Toledo, OH 43617.
