In her early life, Jean worked as a secretary for Dana. She married Fred Riches in 1975. She and Fred spent their retirement traveling all around the world. They took each of their grandkids on a vacation of their choice for their high school graduation. They created many memories in their second home "on wheels" driving cross country in their RV. Jean looked forward to her annual class reunions with her high school family the Wauseon Chiefs. Jean and Fred were devout Christians and active members of First Presbyterian Church Haines City. They held many roles while parishioners there. Jean also enjoyed being a Mentor to elementary school children.
In addition to her parents, Jean was also preceded in death in October 2018 by her loving husband of 43 years, Fred; daughter-in-law, Tammy Kuhr; step-son, Russell; son-in-law, Porky Myers; brothers, Richard, Terry and Frank Shippy; sister-in-law, Julie Riches and brother-in-law, Galen Rothert. She is survived by her children, Jina (Dave) Felix, Diana Meisner, Richard Kuhr, Teresa (Gary) Huffman, Kent Riches, Michelle Myers and Karen (Ed) Harwell; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Barbie, Becky, Malena, Bertie, Sandy, Shelley, David, Ronnie and Mike Shippy; brother-in-law, Jack (Gen) Riches and sister-in-law, Jill Riches.
Jean and Fred will be missed by all of their friends that they've made in their various homes from Ohio to Georgia and finally in Florida.
The family will receive guests, Monday, January 21, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Road, Toledo (419-395-9500). A Memorial Service will be held Monday, January 21, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be privately held at a later date.
