Richard D. Akenberger, age 90, passed away on December 17, 2018. He was born on December 8, 1928 in Lake Twp., Ohio to the late Ruth and Sherman Akenberger.

Dick was an Electrician and member of the IBEW Local 8 for 60+ years. He retired as a Superintendent for Colgan Electric. He served as District Commander for the United States Power Squadron. Dick was an avid boater and traveled throughout the Great Lakes. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Becky (Larry) Hackenberg, Steven (Janice), Cherie (Hunt) Sears, Mike (Kathy); step-daughter, Jane (Don) Killis; siblings, Joan Aufdencamp; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; long-time companion, Joan Kohl. Dick was preceded by his wife, Donna; step-daughter, Julie Rosebrook; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Hal Masters and brother-in-law, William Aufdencamp.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 4-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
