Mary Ellen Wood, age 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Heartland of Perrysburg. She was born on April 5, 1947 to Albert Wayne Kay and Doris Shackleton in Ferndale, Michigan. Mary was a dedicated homemaker, mother, companion and granny. She loved her crafts, baking homemade pumpkin pies and endless cookies, camping with family at D.H. Day Campgrounds in Glen Arbor, MI and was also a published poet.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Jeffery L. "Woody" Wood; Jeff's daughter and Mary's niece, Angela Lynn (A.J.) Wood-Christie and their daughter, Ava Kathryn; Mary's children, Audrey (Tony) Simmons, Donald (Tia) Frankforther and Jason (Tammy) Frankforther; grandchildren, Christopher, Alex, Albert Jr., James and Wayne; many precious great-grandchildren; siblings, Debbie (Charles) Keeling, Albert Wayne "Stoney" Kay, Jr. and Robert Davison; sisters-in-law, Marjorie (Bill) Hider and Allison (Kurt) Osman.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sister, Kathryn and son in law, Albert Bays.

At Mary's request her Celebration of Life will be private for family.

The family would like to specially thank Heartland Hospice for all of the special care they provided to Mary. Also to all the nurses, aides, social worker Kathy, bereavement counselor, Lizzie and fellow staff - a very special thanks to each and every one of you. And to Woody's friends who offered their endless support and help during difficult times.

At her husband Woody's request, any memorial contributions may be made in Mary's memory to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund.
