Eloise Kemner Way
1926 - 2018

Eloise Kemner Way, passed away on November 27th, 2018 in Holland, Ohio. She was born on March 24, 1926 to August and Minnie (Schwarte) Kemner in Pemberville, Ohio. She grew up on her family’s farm near Pemberville and attended the one room school in New Rochester, Ohio. When she graduated from high school in 1943, Eloise and her sister Wilhelmine (Giddens) moved to Toledo where they worked in various jobs, including as stock market board markers. Eloise met John Way at a Toledo YMCA dance. They married in 1953 and their son Roger was born in 1955. Eloise and her family lived in Toledo and Hamilton, Ohio and for many years in Royal Oak, Michigan where her precise attention to detail made her an excellent real estate closing secretary. Upon her husband’s retirement, they returned to Toledo. Eloise was an active member of All Saints Lutheran Church. From hiking club outings on the Maumee River, to a 1940s train trip to Colorado with her sister, a road trip to California with her son and visits to Europe and Hawaii with friends, Eloise enjoyed travel. When injury and illness kept her from traveling, she read avidly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brother, Robert Kemner, and sisters, Wilhelmine Kemner Giddens and Lois Kemner Flynn. Her nephews and nieces and their children and grandchildren brought her much happiness. Eloise is survived by her son, Roger (Patricia), of Acton, California.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 17, 2019 at 3:00 p.m at Fish Cemetery, Pemberville, OH Newcomer – Southwest Chapel (419-381-1900) assisted the family with professional services.
