1946 - 2018

Richard Nowogorski, age 72, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Richard was born in Griesenbach, Germany on August 1, 1946. He and his parents immigrated to the United States in 1951 and made their home in Perrysburg, Ohio. Richard was a 1965 graduate of Perrysburg High School. At the age of two, he contracted polio while living in Germany. Although he was disabled he overcame a great deal of challenges in his life. Nothing was off limits to him. Richard’s disability never stopped him from living his life to the fullest. He never complained of questioned why.

Richard’s interests were camping, collecting trains, coins and riding his three wheel motorcycle until he was no longer able to do so. He was truly an inspiration in his accomplishments. Richard was very blessed to have a strong core of friends. Since their teen years, Don Tutak and Dale Vollmar have always been there for him. Over the last few years, he developed a great friendship with Greg Fritch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jan and Franziska Nowogorski; Aunt Cecilia and Uncle Mike Wroblewski; cousin-in-law, Clark Somers. Richard is survived by cousins, Isolde Somers, Hans (Trudy) Wroblewski, Reinhard Wroblewski, Ingrid (Dave) Dewulf and Susan (Terry) DeLauter; numerous second, third and fourth generation of cousins whom he loved; special friend, Judy Shordt; and lastly his beloved cat, Mama Cat.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 2 – 6:30 p.m. at Newcomer – Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900) with Funeral Services beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Inurnment will be private.

The family would like to thank Greg for his daily continued care and compassion given to Richard and our family. These friends meant the world to Richard and our family was able to witness firsthand what true friendship really is.

We would also like to thank the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the exceptional care and compassion given to Richard and our family.
