Ronald R. Thompson, age 84, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. He was born on June 26, 1934 to Roger and Elinor (Snow) Thompson and was proud to be from the Birmingham, Michigan area. Ron married Shirley (Singleton) Thompson on April 14, 1961. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and retired from Toledo Public Schools after many years of service. Throughout most of his life Ron enjoyed dancing with Shirley at various venues. He loved attending classic car shows and looked forward to the Woodward Dream Cruise every year. Ron was an avid U of M football fan along with his Lions and Tigers.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley Thompson; children, Ronald L. Thompson, David (Kathy) Thompson, Amy (Joel) Askey and Donald Thompson; grandchildren, Samuel, Sarah and Jonathan Askey and brother, Stanley (Judy) Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother, Marian Thompson.

The family will receive guests on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). His Funeral Service will begin in the funeral home on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Friends are invited to join the family for Graveside Services on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, MI (corner of Franklin Rd. and Scenic Dr.).

Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
