Lucille E. "Lucy" DeVore, age 93, of Toledo, passed away August 31, 2018 at Heartland of ProMedica Flower. Lucy was born March 2, 1925 to Sibley and Bertha Criner. Lucy was born and raised on a dirt floor farm in Indian Valley, VA. Her passion for the outdoors grew from her up bringing of picking berries, crops and many other duties to help support her family. Lucy had a myriad of jobs her first as a nanny where her love for children began and as a seamstress, where she became an excellent dressmaker. She followed Ralph L. DeVore to Toledo, Ohio where they were married in 1950. She became a foster parent, worked for Distinctive Costumes, Roth Furs and Willys-Overland. She then decided to start a family as well as her 40 year career as a child care provider. Lucy loved "digging in the dirt", sewing, southern food and an ice cold Blatz Beer.

She is survived by her sons, Ralph L. "Trey" DeVore, III, Mark A. DeVore and Richard L. (Tracy) DeVore; five grandchildren, Tyler, Shea (Dan) Clifford, Chelsea, Andrew and Peyton; great granddaughter, Fallon; beloved niece, Joyce (Arthur) Askey.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph L. DeVore, Jr.; daughter, LaVonne Sue; brothers, Wilmer and Hassel and sisters, Bernice and Lelia.

The family will receive guests Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Newcomer - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 12:00 pm. at the funeral home followed by burial at Toledo Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland at ProMedica for their care and support, they became like family members. Their true love and devotion to her made the last two years of her life so much more comfortable and enjoyable.
