David Mitchell Swain, Jr.
1956 - 2018

David Mitchell Swain, Jr. passed away on August 7, 2018. He was born to David Sr. and Claudia Swain in Toledo, Ohio on March 2, 1956. David was the baby boy of ten siblings. He greeted everyone with a big hug and a kiss, overbearing at times because he was full of love.

David attended Scott High School Class of 1974, also the Academy of Barber and Beauty. He was previously employed with the Blanton Body Shop and Bob’s Body Shop. David could fix anything from automotive to home repairs. He enjoyed fishing and carpentry but especially spending time with his friends and family.

David was preceded in death by parents, David Sr. and Claudia Swain; brother, James David Swain and a grandson. He leaves to cherish his memory brothers, Edward Swain, Frankie (Sonna) Swain and Anthony Swain; sisters, Gertha Swain, Kathy (Ernest) Anderson, Diane Swain, Sharon Swain and Crystal Swain; children, David (Tonya) Brown of Columbus, OH, Tomazz (Jasmine) Wilson, Nicole Horn, Jamiea Wilson, Tiesha Anderson of Long Beach, CA, Stephonia Short and Destiny Brown of Columbus, OH; aunts Pearl Humphrey and Minnie Austin; 23 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He had a special relationship with nephew, George Swain and best friend, Vernon Young. The family wishes to express thanks to Donna Gilmer for the home care of David.

The Wake Service will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 10-11:00 a.m. at Newcomer – SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with burial at the Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
