Janet E. Solarek, age 85, passed away July 5, 2018 at Sunset Village. She was born October 14, 1932 in Toledo, OH to William and Elizabeth (Reuter) Knepper. Janet was employed with the Social Security Administration for more than 17 years. She was a graduate of the University of Toledo in 2000, receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree. Janet was active at the Maumee Valley Presbytery Church serving as an Elder, Deacon and Lay Pastor. She was also a very talented photographer and volunteer advocate for CASA kids.

Janet is survived by her children, Susan (Dennis) Hagenwald, Debra (Maxwell) Brooks, Janet (Craig) Rehkopf, Thomas (Ann) Kemmerley, Steve (Connie) Kemmerley and Amy (Neil) Braida; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson; siblings, Kay Singer, Daniel Knepper and David Knepper. In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her grandson, Richard Dove; granddaughter, Angela Spears; great-grandson, D.J. Moulden and siblings, Carolyn Knepper and William Knepper, Jr..

The family will receive guests, Monday, July 9, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Maumee.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sunset Village and Ashanti Hospice for their loving care of Janet.
