Marian L. Glaser, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Monroe, Michigan, on March 10, 2018, surrounded by family and friends.

Marian was born on May 26, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan to Anthony and Ella M Glaser. Marian is survived by her brothers, William Glaser, Annandale, NJ, Jack (Muriel) Glaser, Rochester, MI and her nieces and nephews.

She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree and her Masters of Social Work from Wayne State. She was certified with National Association of Social Workers and certified Social Worker with State of Michigan. Was a member of the Michigan Law enforcement Officer’s Training Counsel (MLEOTC), and served as a police training instructor.

Marian over her 33 years of employment with Wayne County held positions of probation officer in Recorders Court in Detroit, supervisor Wayne County Recorders Court probation office, Administrative assistant to the Director of the Wayne County Circuit Court Probation, and the District Manager for the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Marian was in private practice first with Jane Skorina, PHD; Clinic, Dr. Wasilewski, and Catholic Social Services of Monroe. She later developed and wrote (the Awareness Program) around her research with alcohol and drug awareness and the impact it had on brain development and behaviors. She ran a licensed program for the Monroe County District Court Probation supporting recovery.

Marian’s best memories were times spent with family and friends at her summer home in Charlevoix, MI and with her rescue cocker spaniel, Egypt, who worked as a visiting therapy dog at the IHM.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Marie Glaser, and her dear friend Marcia Murphy.

A memorial visitation and service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018 at St. Mary’s Church, 127 N Monroe, Monroe Michigan. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m., Memorial Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. Private inurnment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Detroit at a later date.
