Will was a veteran of WWII, serving in the 4th Armored Division of the Army. He was a life member of the VFW Post 6596 – Liberty Center. Will was a longtime member of Maumee United Methodist Church. He volunteered at St. Luke’s for 33 years up until his passing. Will owned a Shell Service Station in Maumee for almost 20 years. Will and his wife, Lola, enjoyed spending winters in Texas. He loved music and enjoyed the jam sessions there. Will was a devoted husband, hard-working, active father and adoring grandpa.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 74 years, Lola; children, Willis (Kathy), Mary (Bob) Grimes, Karen (David) Miller, Janet (Dennis) Luginbuhl, Nancy (Don Durkin) Fenchel, Todd (Beth); grandchildren, Mike, Diane, Bill, Kimberly, Stephanie, Kyle, Megan, April, Lori, Sarah, Aaron, Kurin, Raquel, Ashton, Todd; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Will was preceded in death by his son, Steven; 3 grandchildren, Jimmy, Jennifer and Gene.
The family will receive guests on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Celebration of Life will be held at Maumee United Methodist Church, 405 Sackett St., Maumee at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Family and friends may visit from 9-10:00 a.m. at church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Maumee United Methodist Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
