1935 - 2018

Dorothy Mae "Dottie" Thompson, age 82, of Toledo, passed away April 11, 2018, at Ebeid Hospice Residence. Dottie was born September 21, 1935, in Chicago to Leroy Roehrborn and Dorothy Schwartz. She married James Thompson April 7, 1962, and raised their family on Buffalo St., in the North End where friends are family. She was employed with the Toledo Public Schools. Dottie was a member of First Apostolic Church where she was a very active member. She volunteered with many ministries offered by the church. Her love was being a Chaplain at Corrections Center of NW Ohio for 24 years, where she was voted Chaplain of the Year in 2016. She was a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years, and a volunteer for Second Helpings, Shut-ins' Ministry and art teacher at Apostolic Christian Academy. In the late 60's she was a Girl Scout Leader.

She is survived by her husband, James G. Thompson; children: James (Rosel)Thompson, Jr., David (Sue) Poling, Kimberly (Allen) Spillman, Cheri (Randy) Disher, Rebecca Thompson, Rachel (Gary) Kufel, Daniel Thompson, Rae Lynn (Mike) Simpson; sister, Patricia Zellmer; 26 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Charles, Harold and Ray Roehrborn and sister, Barbara Hutson.

The family will receive guests on Friday, April 13, 2018, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 11:00 am. at First Apostolic Church, 5701 Sylvania Ave.; viewing to begin at 10:00 am.

Memorial contributions may be made to Apostolic Christian Academy in Dottie's memory.
