Doris graduated from Whitney High School in 1948 and remained close with her Alumni group and they met every month for the past 70 years. She retired from Libbey Owens Ford as an Executive Secretary. Doris and Richard “Papa Dick” were active members of the Toledo Sailing Club.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 32 years, Richard; daughters, Debbie (James) Boyle and Karen (Erik Sr.) Jaeck; step-son, Rik (Tina) Burkett; sister, Reenie Halsey; grandchildren, Melanie (Gary Jr.) York, Erik Jaeck Jr. and Alyssa Jaeck (fiancé Joe Fisher); great-grandson, James Collins York and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by husband of 25 years, James Collins Jr.; son, James Collins III; brothers, Kenneth and Donald Goedert.
The family will receive guests on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be private.
The family requests memorials be made to: Luther Home of Mercy, 5810 Williston Main St, Williston, OH 43468.
