1928 - 2018

John M. Creekmore, Sr., age 89, passed away on January 2, 2018.

He was born on July 4, 1928 to the late Bessie and Crit Creekmore in Black Oak, Kentucky.

John met the love of his life, Laura “Sadie” Pounds in 1949 and they married on July 29, 1950. He loved nothing more than the time spent with her and their family and “going out junkin’ and garage sale-ing.” John retired from Metzger Produce after 28 years of excellent service. He was a Private in the United States Army and served in Japan in WWII. He was a devoted husband, proud father, brother, grandpa and great-grandpa and will be deeply missed by all of his loved ones.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Laura “Sadie”; son, John M. Creekmore, Jr.; granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh Prond. John is survived by his daughters, Jane (Jan) Lipps and Patricia Rachels; brother, Billy Gene; grandchildren, Ronald Andrew (Fayre) Bradshaw, John (Katie) Bradshaw, Michele (Ricky) Eckert, Dr. Amy, John III, Jenny (Aaron) Smith and Heather Johnson; 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 1 – 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900) with Funeral Services beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Ronald McDonald House.
