Lisa Marie McCray
1974 - 2017

Lisa Marie McCray, a resident of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on November 25, 2017 while visiting Toledo for the Thanksgiving holiday. She was born on August 14, 1974 to Anne (nee Baun) Showman and Andy McCray and spent her childhood in Toledo surrounded by a close-knit and loving family.

In 1998, Lisa relocated to San Francisco where she developed an expansive network of biological and extended family members and friends. Active in many aspects of the LGBT community, Lisa enjoyed pushing the boundaries of social awareness and acceptance all the while bringing great joy to those she with whom she worked and socialized. With an abundance of energy and joie de vivre, Lisa also pursued her education and was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from San Francisco State University in 2010. She spent many years prior to and after her graduation caring for people across the entire spectrum of life; from the children she loved and nannied to the multitude of co-workers and patients that presented to the various medical practices in which she worked.

With her infectious smile, as her Dad said, “when you met Lisa – you knew Lisa.” She met her best friend and life partner, Danielle (Danie) Belfield in 2011 and they spent several years in San Francisco before returning to Ohio to be close to Lisa’s family. Lisa was an adventurer and explorer. She and Danie spent as much time as they could travelling, hiking, kayaking, mountain climbing, and looking for new experiences across many of the United States.

Lisa is survived by her loving life partner, Danie; mother, Anne Showman; father, Andy (Susie) McCray; grandmother, Oma; brothers, Derek and Aaron; sisters, Jayme and Eileen; loving uncles and aunts and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Karl and Janice Baun and Horace and Doris McCray.

A celebration of Lisa’s life will be held on December 8, 2017 between 2 and 4 pm at Newcomer Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo.

In lieu of flowers, an account has been setup on GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/4rtojp4.
