Richard A. "Dick" Birner
1924 - 2015

Richard A. “Dick” Birner, age 91, peacefully completed his earthly journey on November 27, 2015. He was escorted by our Creator and Maker to his resting heavenly home.

Dick was a graduate of Macomber High School and earned his Engineering Degree from Fort Wayne Institute of Technology. He worked for General Electric in Cincinnati, Thompson Ramo in Cleveland, Aerojet General Aerospace in Sacramento, California. Returning to Toledo with Owens Illinois, retiring in 1986. After retirement, he followed his hobby and started his own shop refurbishing and rebuilding Player Pianos for many years. Dick always had projects and interests in many fields and was never idle or bored. He always made time for family and friends. Dick enjoyed roller-skating, dancing, camping, bicycling, traveling and walking the park.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Dorothy “Dot”; children, Jennifer (Paul) Hegji, Linda Birner, Nadia (Ron) Rassmussen, Chet (Sherri) Thomas, Lance (Karen) Thomas and Mark (Sabine) Thomas; grandchildren, Manya (Michael), Jeremy (Heather), Katie (Ben), Sara, Laura (Eric) and Amy; great-grandchildren, Everett, Isaac, Eleanor and Anna.
