1929 - 2015

Richard H. “Dick” Lee, age 86, passed away on November 26, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio – Perrysburg, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 18, 1929 to the late Mabel and Maurice “Henry” Lee in Toledo, Ohio.

Dick was a 1948 graduate of Libbey High School where he played football and was part of the team that created the “T Formation.” In 1950 he married Janet Louise Rummell and together they had a daughter, Evelyn Mae. Janet died in 1955. In 1959 Dick married Ruth Eleanor Wilcox and together they had a daughter, Barbara Jean. Ruth died in 1994.

Dick worked as a Color Technician for Plascon for 14 years. He then retired in 1991 after 27 years with Prudential Life Insurance Company where he served the residents of Perrysburg, Ohio. Dick was a professional photographer all his life and was also the photographer for the Johnny Knorr Orchestra for many years. He was a member of the American Theatre Organ Society. Dick loved big band music and dancing. He played the piano and organ throughout his life. After retiring, Dick volunteered at the Lutheran Home at Wolf Creek twice a week, providing music for the residents.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Evelyn “Skeeter” Grogan-Lee (Sheila) and Barbara Lee Bennett; sister, Nancy Ramsey; grandson, Galen “Tom” Bennett (Chandra); great-grandchildren, Makenna and Finnley; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests from 2-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Burial will take place at Toledo Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to: Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
