Bernard J. Janis, age 84, of Maumee, Ohio passed away August 1, 2015 at Lutheran Village at Wolfcreek. He was born June 5, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio to John and Mary Jesionowski. Bernie served his country in the US Air Force. Bernie was employed with Rowe Industries as a Controller for more than 20 years, followed by 14 years of Self-employment as a Public Accountant on River Road in Maumee, Ohio. He was a member of the Maumee Elks, Maumee Eagles and The Washington Local School Board.

Bernie is survived by his daughters, Diann (Ray) Paulin and Paula (Todd) Giovanoli; grandchildren, Dustin Ptaszynski, Amanda (Will) Kohanski, Amber (Alex) Jaso, Sean Paulin, Gino and Donte Giovanoli; great-grandchildren, Alexia, Grace, Hudson and Vivienne. In addition to his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann Janis and second wife, Norma Janis; and sisters, Rose Wojtowicz, Gertrude Michalak and Delores Jesionowski.

The family will receive guests Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:30 am. at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Bernie’s memory.
