In Memory Of
Ronald "Ron" Shafer
1960 - 2015

Ronald Glenn Shafer “Ron”, 54, of Lambertville, MI passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. He was born on August 19, 1960 in Bowling Green, OH to Billy Joe and Mabel (Moberly) Shafer and they survive.

Ron was a graduate of Bowsher H.S. and earned a degree at Davis Community College and Owens Technical College. He was employed with the Toledo Board of Education for 30 years most recently as the Director of EMIS. Ron retired from the Board of Education on February 1, 2015 and planned on spending time with his children who were his entire life and playing music with his friends. He was currently the lead vocalist for the bands Richter Scale and Excaliber. He was also an avid runner since high school and still ran many races. Ron was “All City” in cross country in 1978.

Ron was loved dearly by his family along with his parents. Surviving are his daughter Jami Shafer, son Justin Shafer, brother Bill (Kelly) Shafer, sister Susan (Earl) Crutcher, nieces and nephews Katie, Steven, Shelly, Sam and Max Shafer, Kelley and Julia Crutcher, Amy and Brian Plumb, 3 great-nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Anyone who knew Ron loved him and knew he had a heart of gold. He was the first to lend a hand to a friend but would never ask for help. He always had a kind word and a joke to tell. If you were around Ron he would put a smile on your face.

Memorial tributes may be given to Ronald’s children: Jami and Justin Shafer.

The family will receive guests from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Family and friends may also visit from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m.
