Byron A. Hoyt, age 90, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Ebeid Hospice Residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 25, 1924 to Francis and Bessie (Ernst) Hoyt in Liberty Center, Ohio. Byron was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country in WWII, receiving a purple heart. He loved his dogs, golfing, riding his mower and being in the yard. Byron loved nothing more than spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Genevieve Grambling, Ruth Hoyt, Valetia Kamer, Cyril “Leon” Hoyt and Vernon Hoyt; grandson, Donald Parker; and daughter-in-law, Marsha Parker. Byron is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Hoyt; children, William (Kim) Parker, Diane (Kenneth) Alcorn, Thomas (Kristen) Hoyt, David Hoyt, Bernice (Dan) Davis and Jeffery (Nichol) Hoyt; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Vivian Hoover, Dorothy (Herman) Goldsmith and Francis (Attalie) Hoyt; sister-in-law, Othella Hoyt; and many dear friends and neighbors.

The family will receive guests on Thursday from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider ProMedica Hospice or the VFW Post 2898.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the staff and caregivers at Ebeid Hospice Residence for all of their love and care given to Byron and his family through this difficult time.
