James Edward Arnold, 67, of Liberty Center, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital on Sunday, April 19, 2015. Jim was born on August 25, 1947, to the parents of Beatrice (Hammersmith) and Lester Arnold at St. Vincent Hospital.

Jim was an ironworker with Ironworkers Local 55 of Toledo where he worked on several highways and large construction jobs in and around the Toledo area. He was a (1965) graduate of Roy C. Start High School.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons, grandsons, brothers and friends. Additionally, he was the greatest supporter and fan of his best friend and devoted wife, Beth, as she pursued her passion of showing horses and ponies.

Jim is survived by his cherished wife of 30 years, Beth (Carroll), as well as his four loving children, James, Jr., Jason, Jody and Jonathan; seven grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Autumn, Payton, Jason, Jr., Joseph and Jonathan, Jr.; great- granddaughter, Aaliyah; father-in-law Ray Carroll; brothers, Denny and Bill; sisters Joyce (Tim) Begin, Shirley and sisters-in-laws, Mamie and Barb Murphy and brother-in-law, Steve Carroll along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Larry, and mother-in-law, Norma Carroll.

Jim’s wife, Beth, would like to express her appreciation to the health care providers of St. Luke’s Hospital for the attentive and caring services provided to Jim during his illness.

Honoring Jim’s wishes, no visitation will occur. The family will receive guests Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo where a Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to ProMedica St. Luke’s Foundation in Jim’s memory.
