1933 - 2015

Charles L. “Charlie” Marsh, age 82, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Genesis Healthcare, Sylvania. He was born on March 9, 1933 to Floyd and Ann (Milligan) Marsh in Knoxville, TN. Charlie was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving his country proudly, honorably discharged. He was employed with Nickel Plate for many years and then with Norfolk Southern until retiring. Charlie also taught meat cutting at Kurtz School of Meats. He was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran and currently of Lutheran Church of Our Savior. Charlie was an avid baseball fan, especially of the Philadelphia Phillies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Charles and Michael Marsh; sister, Katherine Free; brothers, James and Kenneth Marsh; half-brother, Leonard Capps; and his four-legged best friend, Dodie. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Mary (Birr) Marsh; sons, Daniel and Thomas (Lori) Marsh; grandchildren, Mandy, Rebecca, Sarah, Taryn, Maddi and Parker; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Curtis, Katie Rose, Christian, Amira, Dylan and Danika; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Monday from 2 – 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider ProMedica Hospice, Lutheran Church of Our Savior or Humane Ohio.
