George R. Schloegl, age 82, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Friday, March 9, 2018 at Ebeid Hospice Residence with loving family by his side. He was born August 15, 1935 to George and Grace Schloegl in Toledo. When George entered grade school he only spoke German. He went to St. Mary’s grade school and graduated from Central Catholic High School. George was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. George met the love of his life, Nancy Cooper on a blind date before getting married shortly later. He retired from Libbey Owens Ford, Rossford, after 36 years. George was a longtime member of St. Clement Catholic Church and the Bavarian Sports Club. He was very involved with the Bavarian Sports Club, he was on their softball and soccer teams and also part of the Schuhplattler team. George enjoyed hunting, bowling and camping with his family in Northern Michigan. He was very dedicated family man to his wife and sons and always provided to them. George was a loving husband, father and brother who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He left the promise to always take care of his beloved wife, Nancy even after passing.
George is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy; sons, David and Scott (Mary); and brother, John (Gail) Schloegl; cousins, Elsie Ghesquiere and Marie Kopf; his very true friend, Dick (Barb) Hofmeister; and many other family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
