Erwin D. “Erv” Empie, age 91, of Lambertville, MI, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Goerlich Center, Sylvania. He was born on December 12, 1926 to Glenn and Bessie (Smith) Empie in Toledo. Erv was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country during WWII. He loved his church and his Bible study. Erv was an avid reader, woodworker, played the piano, pool and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also a sports fan and loved the outdoors. Erv will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Empie. Erv is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy “Dottie” Empie; children, Mateyo (Colin) Breed, of Ann Arbor, MI, Kenneth (Eden) Empie, of Santa Monica, CA and Michael Empie, of Detroit, MI; grandson, Kwaya; sister, Marie Koorstra; and other family members and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Sunday from 2 – 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Whiteford Union Cemetery.
