1921 - 2018

Emmett M. Aossey, age 96, of Toledo, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Ebeid Hospice with his family by his side. He was born on April 19, 1921 to Sam and Lucy (Branninger) Aossey in Arlington, Iowa. He was born during the Great Depression and served his country proudly in Pearl Harbor during World War II in the U.S. Army. He survived the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor and was the recipient of two Bronze Stars. He retired from Doehler Jarvis after 28 years of service as a journeyman machinist. One of his proudest moments later in life was being able to make the Honor Flight trip. He was known as the neighborhood "go-to-guy" for many years and will be sadly missed.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 54 years, Betty (Wilson) Aossey; children, Edward (May) Aossey, Sam (Christine) Aossey, Deborah (Gary) Wise, Darla Reese, Laura (Ober) Tanigawa and Nancy Aossey-Jackson; daughter-in-law, Kathy Aossey; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter expected; siblings, Michael Aossey, Schrefia Chahine and Sylvia Glaser; sister-in-law, Shirley (Richard) Tulk; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sons, Richard J. Aossey and Daniel Elton; siblings, Abraham Aossey, Selma Sayed, Fannie Dein and William Aossey.

The family will receive guests from 3-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home- Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). His Funeral Service will begin in the funeral home on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

Memorial Contributions may be made to ProMedica Ebeid Hospice or American Cancer Society.
