In Memory Of
Clarence J. "CJ" Edwards, Sr.
1929 - 2018

CJ, surrounded by family, departed this earth to reunite with his beloved wife, Diana, on January 15, 2018. He was born to Irene and James Edwards on October 2, 1929. He graduated from Woodward High School in 1949. CJ started his career at Great Lakes Corrugated in 1952 where he was employed until retirement in 1992.

He was a man of few words and did not share details about his childhood, it seemed that his life started when he met Diana and started a family. They were married on June 19, 1954 and raised 5 children and welcomed 20 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Together they enjoyed traveling with friends. He especially loved Las Vegas and gambling and was excited to talk about his wins, losses and the buffets. They enjoyed weekly date nights, bowling, square dancing and eating out. He knew which restaurants had the good deals and flirted his way into the hearts of his waitresses. He was often found working on his cars and his son in law, Bob, has many good memories of being a young neighborhood boy and Mr. Edwards teaching him about cars. If someone bought a new car he was sure to look it over top to bottom, and if you went on a trip he wanted to know all about the gas mileage and price of gas. He taught his family that love is what you do, not what you say and that every day should end with a big bowl of popcorn. His sense of humor, smile, and declarations of "To the moon with ya" and "I can't do everything!" will be missed by all.

He leaves behind his loving children, CJ Jr. (Heather) of DePere, Wisconsin, Bob (Maria) of Toledo, Judy (Al) Szczublewski, Sandra (Bob) Sutter, all of Bowling Green, and Laura (Max) Bickley of Walbridge; 20 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald, Robert, Elliott, and sister Juanita Acres and granddaughter, Theresa Krieg.

The family will receive guests Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer-SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral services will be held Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.

Please consider a donation to Ohio Living Hospice, 1730 South Reynolds Road, Toledo, Ohio 43614.
