In Memory Of
Jane E. Smith
1923 - 2017

Jane E. Smith, age 94, passed away December 6, 2017 with family by her side. She was born July 7, 1923 in Toledo to Roscoe and Charlotte Noss. Dementia controlled her last few years, but the rest of her life she lived to the fullest.

Jane was a graduate of Libbey Class of ’41 and Davis Business College. She attended many Libbey reunions as far away as Florida and the West Coast. She sang the Libbey fight song until the very end.

During WWII she worked at Rossford Ordinance Depot and later at the Naval Armory discharging sailors until she married and had 2 children. In 1957, she went to work at LaSalles in the credit department for 14 years. In 1972, she helped open Montgomery Wards as the Jewelry Department manager until her retirement in 1988. Six months later, she returned to Wards until they closed in 2001. Still wanting to work and support her love of travel she went to the Jewelry Department at Value City and worked until 2008, at the age of 84.

Years ago Jane made a list of the places she wanted to visit and she did it all. Seven European countries, Mexico, Caribbean Islands and all 50 states. At age 77, she and her friend (since kindergarten), Rita rode a dog sled on a glacier in Alaska. At 78, they took a hot air balloon ride over Arizona.

She made wonderful memories with her five grandchildren by taking them many times to Mackinaw Island, Mullet Lake, Niagra Falls and a World’s Fair. Jane’s heart grew even bigger with the birth of her five great-grandchildren.

Late in life, Jane found a love like she said had never known with Jonesy. They had over 10 years together before dementia took over her life.
Jane was a member of Zoar Lutheran in Perrysburg, Satelites of UTMCO where she was on the board for 3 years and Maumee Eagles.

Jane loved her family and all of the times they spent together, and she has filled each of their hearts with love and fond memories.

Jane is survived by her children, James (Denise) Facemyre and Joyce (Greg) Gregory; grandchildren, Tony (Christine) Facemyre, Jill (Tim) Galligan, Tracy (Dan) Jeremy, Brandy (Seth) Hiles and Dawn Gregory; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Jane, Aubrey, Andrew, Addison and Phoebe; and loving companion, Dwight Jones. In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Noss.

The family would like to thank Genesis of Perrysburg and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their love and care.

The family will receive guests Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Monday, December 11, 2017 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
