Daryel Gast of Toledo, age 76, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Thursday November 30, 2017.

Born in Sandusky, Ohio to Ed and Jean Gast on January 19, 1941, Daryel graduated from Sandusky High School and Stautzenberger Business College. He served his country as a member of the Ohio National Guard. For more than 40 years, he was a Steel Hauling Dispatcher for Northern Steel Transport in Toledo. His passions included fishing, playing cards, gardening and visiting casinos with his wife and friends. A diehard Ohio State and Cleveland sports fan, you could always count on Daryel’s great sense of humor. He enjoyed sharing a good laugh and was happiest when he was able to help others.

Preceded in death by his parents and son Ronald Robert Gast, Daryel is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley, brothers Ronnie (Deena) and Terry (Norma Jean) and children Jay (Janet), Karen (daughter in law) and Terri (Bob) and grandchildren Bonnie (Michael), Ashely (Andrew), Hollyanne, Ronnie (Reanna), Jason, Jaxson, Taylor, five great grandchildren and several grand dogs.

The family will receive guests Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral services will be held Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
