John L. "Jack" Gottschalk, Sr.
1940 - 2017

John L. "Jack" Gottschalk, Sr., age 77, of Toledo, passed away on Friday morning, November 10, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio - Toledo. He was born on October 17, 1940 to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gottschalk in Toledo. After high school, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army only to come home to be the main caregiver for his father. He retired from Seaway Food Town after 36 years of service as the produce manager. Jack also sat on the executive board for Local 75 for many years.

In his younger years, he and his brothers enjoyed drag racing in Toledo and surrounding areas. Jack also had a passion for street rods and classic cars and was involved with the Good Guy's Car Club.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Deb (Lemle) Gottschalk; daughter, Cassandra (Allen) Hetzel; son, John, Jr. (Cathy) Gottschalk; step-sons, Ryan (Lynsi) Sullivan and Zachary (Jenn) Sullivan; grandchildren, Autumn, Lindsey, Cassie, Whittney, Alicia, Corey, Patricia, Rebecca and Hudson; great-grandchildren, Alexzander, Elliott, Siua, and Isabelle; brothers, Robert (Donna), Larry (Donna) and Dutch (Jeanne) Gottschalk, Jeff (Karen) McKinnley and his beloved canine companion, Zoe. Preceding him in death are his parents.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 2-6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack's memory to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
