1943 - 2017

Merlyn C. Wade Sr., age 74, of Livonia, MI, passed away September 21, 2017 at Foundation Park Alzheimer’s Care Center. He was born on January 17, 1943 to Lester and Minnie (Irvine) Wade in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Wade was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. He graduated with a Bachelors of Arts from University of Michigan Dearborn in Psychology with distinction. After working at Difco Laboratories for over 20 years, Wade changed courses and picked up his teaching certificate and taught grades 7 through 12. He was an avid fisherman, tied his own flies and always preferred stream fishing over being on a boat.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Charles Tisbury. Wade is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Barb; children, Sherrin (Steven) Bullett, Amy Sadd, Merlyn Wade Jr., and Lester (Lisa) Wade; step-children, Lisa (Greg) Nowak, Linda (Jeffery) Kozlowski and Alan Japes; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Mangrum and Melba (Tracey) McQueen; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

There will be no visitation or services at this time for Wade per his request. The Newcomer Funeral Home – NW Chapel, Toledo (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions in honor of Wade are asked to consider The National Wildlife Federation or The Nature Conservancy.
