Clarence Wayne "Boomer" Callis
1941 - 2017

Clarence “Wayne” Callis, age 75, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 with his son and daughter-in-law by his side. He was born on November 4, 1941 to George and Martha (Church) Callis in Nashville, Tennessee. Wayne was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from GM Powertrain in 2001 after 25 years of service as a millwright. Wayne was a member of the Lou Diamond Marine Corps League, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 197, a lifetime member of Riverview Yacht Club, Loyal Order of the Moose, AMVets and Order of Yellow Dogs. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, collecting coins, making knives, cooking for family and most importantly spending time with his boys and generally having his own way; “But he’ll decide”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Martha Callis; who passed April 26, 2017; their son, Rodney M. Callis; and brothers, Leonard and Bill Callis. Wayne is survived by his loving sons, Michael (Robin) and Rich (Becca) Callis; grandchildren, Rod Jr. (Rosie), Elizabeth and Henry; step-grandchildren, Monica (Jake), Maureen and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Mathew, Jacob, Kaiden, Nora and Isabella; and many dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 3 – 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Memorial Services beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions in honor of Wayne are asked to consider the Disabled Veterans of America.
