In Memory Of
Marilyn M. Bensman
1932 - 2017

Marilyn M. Bensman, age 84, of Maumee, Ohio passed away June 10, 2017 at her home after a brave, long battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. She was born November 26, 1932 in Toledo. She graduated from Scott High School. Marilyn was a Democrat supervisor for the Lucas County Board of Elections for more than 26 years, retiring in 1999. She had many happy memories from the "B of E" with her Republican and Democratic co-workers.

Marilyn's family was the object of her love and generosity. She supported her children, Tommy and Pam, and grandchildren's sports activities no matter how far and how cold. Marilyn was a former parishioner at St. Agnes Catholic Church and participated in its Altar Rosary Society musicals. She had many dear friends from the Willys Parkway neighborhood and its pinochle club.

In retirement, Marilyn and her husband, Tom, had season tickets for the Toledo Mud Hens and the University of Toledo Men's Basketball team. They enjoyed watching Detroit Tiger games together. She was a member of the Adams Township Legion Post Auxiliary Unit and St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church.

Tom and his daughter take great comfort in that Marilyn died in the home she and Tom built, but could not have done it without assistance from Judy Blochinger and daughter-in-law Jackie. The family would like to thank Dr. Elizabeth Hoffman and her nurse Robin for 2 decades of care and the caregivers of Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 63 years, Thomas S. Bensman; daughter, Dr. Pamela (Bob Seymour) Bensman; daughter-in-law, Jackie Bensman; grandchildren, Lynsay (Chris Baggs) Bensman, Lisa Marie (Jeremy Halsey) Bensman, Matthew (KellyAnn) Bensman, Bret Maverick (Alexandra Clark) Seymour and Scott Seymour; great-grandson, Graham Bensman; sister, Sandra Baker and special friend Sue Kregulka. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Bensman, II, granddaughter Holly Seymour and brother, Gilbert Brubaker.

The family will receive guests Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 9:15 am in the funeral home followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, Ohio.
