In Memory Of
Gordon Harry "Gordy" Siegwald
1926 - 2017
He was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School in 1945 and he joined the war effort that same year. Gordy was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1946 after serving in the Philippines during WWII.
Gordon married Elizabeth "Betty" Smith in February 1950 and she passed away January 20, 1972. On December 16, 1972, he married Agnes Scheuerman-Schneble and they spent 41 wonderful years together until her passing on July 20, 2013.
Gordon's passions were cars and Freemasonry. He was with the Mason's for over 65 years and was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a two-time Past Master of the Sanford L. Collins Lodge. He was extremely proud of the Masons history and their community commitment.
Gordy also loved anything to do with cars. He worked at several car dealerships in the Toledo area, including Bob Eddy Buick and most recently Dave White Chevrolet. He fell in love with cars at a very early age. He drove his first car at the age of 10 when three neighborhood teenagers bet him he couldn't drive their car. He won the bet when he took them on a short drive around West Toledo.
Gordon was a very friendly, outgoing, and humorous man. He always had a great joke or a funny comment. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, John (Terry) Siegwald, Elizabeth (Richard) Johnson, Chris (Frank) Parmelee and Gordon (Gwen) Siegwald; grandchildren, James (Kristin), Ilia, Cliff (Amanda), Clark, Sean, Kristen (Tony), Allison and Kate and great-grandson, Chase. In addition to his parents and grandparents he was preceded in death by both of his wives, Betty and Agnes.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 1-3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). The Northern Light Lodge #40 will be providing Masonic Services at 3:00 p.m.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children - Cincinnati, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607 in Gordy's memory.
