Mary Jane (nee Hernes) (Conry) (Irlam) Edwards, age 89, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Monday, April 24, 2017 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born June 25, 1927 to Anthony and Sophia (Blazey) Hernes in Toledo. Mary Jane was a devout Catholic and grew up at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, raised her family at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral and since has been a longtime member of St. Clement Parish. Mary Jane was known for her polish pastries and soups and loved baking and cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed shopping, crocheting, camping and spending time with her family. Mary Jane will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira “Bob” Edwards; brother, Anthony Hernes, Jr.; and sister, Rita Blaczyak. Mary Jane is survived by her loving children, Barbara (Mike) LaPoint, David (Anne) Conry, Judy (Fred) Weiland, Sharon (Tony) Adams, Mari (Rich) Tank, Arleen (Cal) Brothers and John Irlam, III; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene (Eleanor) Hernes; and many extended family members.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio, the Area Office on Aging or St. Clement Parish.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff and caregivers at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, especially Melissa, Diane, Linda and Kay for all of their love, care and support given to Mary Jane and our family through this difficult time.
