Walter "Woody" Wodarski
1918 - 2017

Walter “Woody” Wodarski, age 98, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born on December 11, 1918 to Stanley and Frances (Jankowski) Wodarski in Toledo. Walter was a 2nd Lieutenant of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He retired from GM after many years. Walter was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, he loved to go fishing and bowling. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being at home.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Dan Wodarski; great-granddaughter, Mariah Penrod; and 7 siblings. Walter is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Evelyn (Soltysiak) Wodarski; children, Judy (Bill) Cooke, Paul Wodarski, Jeanne (Ken) Pinkney and Joanne White; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Alvina Biernacki; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Toledo.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for all of their love and care given to Walter during his time there.

In lieu of flowers those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
