James R. "Jim" Hoover, age 73, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Franciscan Care Center. He was born on August 16, 1943 to Ralph and Lucy (Williams) Hoover in Bascom, Ohio.

Growing up on his family farm in Bascom, he had many stories to share and loved reminiscing with family and friends. He loved to sing old country music and would entertain anyone who would listen. In his younger years he used to collect antiques. Jim spent most of his career working as a truck driver for UPS and driving fuel tankers for several distributors until his retirement. Most importantly, Jim was a man of very strong faith and enjoyed sharing that faith with his family. He and Ginger dedicated themselves to their church community and giving unto others brought him much joy. For 24 years, he and his wife Ginger volunteered at Our Lady of Toledo Shrine, and Jim would offer a helping hand with whatever was needed there.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Ginger (Goncar) Hoover; children, Jill (Michael) Carter, Amy Newmyer (Todd Keiser) and James C. Hoover; step-children, Marilyn Weber, Melanie (Brian) Zaleski, Walter Becki, Todd (Shara) Becki, Valerie (Erik) Kopmanis and Keith (Laurie) Becki; grandchildren, Erica, Alexandra, Brandon and Dustin; step-grandchildren, Bill, Niki, Matt, Brooke, Chelsea, Payton, Jake, TJ, Justin, Kenna, Erin, Danie, Josh, Kyle and Tye; 6 great-grandchildren; 8 step-great grandchildren; siblings, Carolyn (Gerald) Pollauf, Kathi (Gerald) Windau and John Hoover. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" Hoover.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 2-8:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300).
