Margaret A. Burkhardt, age 89, of Toledo, passed away unexpectedly January 21, 2017 at St Anne's Mercy Hospital. Margaret was born September 21, 1927 in Morenci, MI. to Thomas & LuluBelle (Butler) Ferris. She married John (Bud) Burkhardt and he preceded in death December 16, 1987. She worked at Schmidlin Bros. Heating and Air Conditioning until she started her family in 1953. She was then a homemaker until the early 80's when she returned to work for Apple Creek Building Company where she was their bookkeeper. For over a decade she kept the books for Russ's Car Wash where she was still employed, thought of as family, and will be very deeply missed. Margaret was a long time member of Good Shephard Lutheran Church. Family was extremely important to her and the values she gained over almost 90 years was instilled in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margaret insisted on hosting all family events and holidays to ensure that the family was together and well taken care of. She was the cornerstone of the family. Her passion for life and love of her family is what kept her adventurous spirit going throughout her years.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Terry Burkhardt; daughters, Cheryl (Mike) Tatkowski, Trudy (Mark) McCauley; grandchildren, Corie & Brad Carpenter, Caisee Moses, Dale McCauley and companion Savonna Rodriguez, Trisha McCauley; great grandchildren, Corbin Carpenter and Carson Moses. She was preceded in death by her sister, Doris "Jean" Ziegler and brother, Andrew Ferris.

The family will receive guests Tuesday January 24, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2017 beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Heart Association or Good Shephard Lutheran Church.
