1921 - 2016

Lucille Mae Brecht, age 94, of Sylvania, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Sunset Village. She was born on October 24, 1921 to Charles and Mae (Ritter) Strouse in McComb, Ohio. Lucille was a 70 year member of Boulevard Church of Christ. She and her husband owned and operated Brecht’s Meat Market until their retirement in 1979.

Lucille was devoted to family and carried on the tradition of holiday dinners at her house until well into her 80’s. She was an accomplished painter who never picked up a brush until she was 70. Her beautiful land and seascapes will be enjoyed by her family for years to come. Lucille spent her life devoted to bringing love, beauty and humor to all who knew her. Courageous in her last days, Lucille was deeply loved and will be missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, H. Dale Brecht; and sister, Bernice Winkle. Lucille is survived by her loving children, Jane (Carl) Wootton, Dennis (Marlene) Brecht and Barbara Lowe; grandchildren, David (Bonnie) Haims, Annie Miller, Tracy Girard, Marty (Melissa Thomas) Brecht, Corey (Leah) Brecht, Michael (Kristine) Brecht, Kevin (Emily) Brecht, Christopher Rygalski, Jon Rygalski and Katelyn Lowe; and 21 great-grandchildren; and niece, Donna (Winkle) Dennis.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services will beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Weston Cemetery, Weston, Ohio.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Ashanti Hospice and Palliative Care.
