1934 - 2016

John A. Amstutz, age 81, of Haines City, Florida, formerly of Toledo, passed away on August 21, 2016 at South Florida Baptist Hospital with his loving wife and son by his side. He was born on August 28, 1934 to John and Ruth (Stites) Amstutz in Toledo. He was a graduate of Waterville High School in 1952. John was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked for Toledo Trust for 36 years, then worked at Exchange Bank in Luckey, Ohio for two years before retiring in 1996. John was an avid golfer and loved traveling with his wife Carolyn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Newman and Joyce Schiewe. John is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Carolyn; son, Eric (Kim) Amstutz, of Naples, FL; step-children, Jeff Cornes, of Toledo, Joel Cornes, of Hendersonville, NC and Jill (Dave) Gierke, of Oregon, OH; grandchildren, Andy, Andrea, Lisa, Olivia and Max; sister, Carol Hardy, of Bowling Green; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Sunday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Memorial Services will begin Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Church, 1360 Conant St., Maumee, OH 43537.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider any Hospice organization or a charity of the donor’s choice.
