James W. "Sonny" Pounds, Jr., age 85, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 14, 2016. He was born on January 1, 1931 to James W., Sr. and Lora Jane (Mills) Pounds in Toledo. Sonny proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired from G.M. Powertrain after 30 years of service. In his younger years he was a butcher for Kurtz Market and drove cab as a side job. Sonny was a devoted member of Faith Baptist Church, Lambertville for many years where he had made great friends with parishioners and his Pastor. He will be remembered as a loving, kind and genuine gentleman to so many.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Barbara J. Pounds; son, Michael James Pounds; siblings, Ella, Lena, Elbert, Dewey and Judy. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Brenda Sherman (Charles Morris); 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rhoda, Laura, Virginia and Mary; his loving church family and his canine companion, Chase.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church (A Family of Faith), 6245 Whiteford Center Road, Lambertville, MI 48144. Memorial Services will begin in the church at 1:00 p.m. in the church with Pastor Dan Adams officiating.
