Richard Irvin Willey, 84, of Northwest Ohio, passed away on June 18, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born January 27, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio, to Kathryn (Lukert) and Irvin Willey. On August 31, 1951, he married Joan M. Jacobs. The couple raised their five children in Toledo and Monclova.

Dick was well-known throughout the area as a skilled carpenter and mentor, working for more than 35 years for companies including OCP, Inc. and Lakeside Interior Contractors, Inc., retiring in 1999. He was a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 248, and had served as an instructor of journeyman carpenters for the union. He enjoyed collecting antiques, artifacts and curiosities. He and his wife, Joan, also raised miniature schnauzers for many years. He loved spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Bridge Hospice of the Blanchard Valley Health System and the nurses, caregivers and other medical professionals who provided such excellent care during Dick’s illness.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Joan Willey; children, Rick (Pat) Willey, Deborah (Ronald) Weber, Keith Willey, Tracy (Richard) Lee Byrd, and Wade (Loretta) Willey; sister, Charlene Hall; brothers, Jim (Carolyn) and Dale Willey; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
